But first things first, it was my mother's birthday, and I text her! She sent her very first text, thanking me for the birthday wishes. Go Mom!
This was the “major” Roman history day. We started with buying a ticket at the Roman Forum (whose line is typically shorter) and gained entry to the Roman Forum, Palatino, and Colosseum. After gawking at all that ancient stuff, we waited for our friends Todd and Allison who had arrived in town, and with them headed to Piazza Navona for lunch. Then, since we still really didn’t have an agenda, we showed Todd and Allison some of the things we’d seen the day before, like the Pantheon and the Basilica (it was raining so the line was short and we actually got to go inside). We picked up a few snacks (salami, olives, cheese) and bottles of wine and enjoyed ourselves a bit in the hostel’s courtyard. Then we took another guidebook recommendation and found a place for dinner. I ordered some rabbit, which really is an underused meat in America. Cute and cuddly = delicious!

We then shared a lovely lunch of pasta...
